Fixed the uploading problems!

This was for a portfolio for a college that actually wasn't UD! ( I ended up using it for the portfolio here, too though... )

Here's another ink drawing I did before the one above... practice for the technique I used

Project 4!

Here's my final image for the fourth project!
I used two images for the main part of the poster. The first was the picture of the powerplant. For this one, I made the sky red with color adjustments and darkned up portions of the towers to make them have a darker mood. I added several more inches to the canvas in black.
The second image was of a tree branch with several leaves and monkey balls ( those little spikey things on trees around here?) I adjusted the levels so the image was completely black, then selected the branch and inverted the colors so it was white.
I duplicated the image twice and transformed them so they looked slightly different, then arranged them in a way that I thought worked well. I also played with the opacities a little.

I made the text out of wire and scanned it in, then changed some of the letters into white or red for the bottom half of the poster [:
Overall I'm pretty happy with how things turned out! I'm not too sure how I like my text, but what's done is done. Hope you like!

25 October 2008

For the next digital media project, I'm planning to use the song Lake Michigan by Rogue Wave.
I want to do some sort of environmental statement ( again, I know, I promise it will be a bit different than the last one!)so I went to the Valero power plant near my house to take some gloomy, rainy-day pollution pictures. A couple turned out ok but I can't upload them at the moment. However, apparently taking pictures of power plants is frowned upon as a couple workers there asked me to leave after about 5 minutes. ]: Hopefully I have what I need.

So on a note [almost ] completely unrelated to photography, halloween is this Friday!
My boyfriend and I have decided to go as Clark Kent and Lois Lane ( low budgets?) so it should be pretty interesting!

Be sustainable.

Here's the finished product for the third assignment for Digital Media. I originally wanted to add a LOT more to this, but I decided that maybe simplicity was key, especially for the message I wanted to put out.
Living a sustainable lifestyle and minimizing the impact we have on the environment in which we live is important to me, and I wanted to show that.

The colors look a lot nicer on the Macs than they do on my PC, so hopefully to all of you they look a lot more vibrant than what I'm seeing!

Letters, letters everywhere! A little bit from the next design project.

Letter E, in a different kind of font. I thought the shape was unique. Unfortunately, the display I shot this from was moved so I can't go back to reshoot ]:

I wish I could have burred the background out a bit more fore this one but I did the best I could in such a limited space.

This was by far my luckiest letter.
I found this pipe part sitting in the grass under a tree with this leaf just hanging out on top of it. I thought it was too perfect to pass up for a Q.

I liked the juxtaposition of the dark metal against the red plastic on this one. My favorite solution for X.

I took this back in May before I really started to learn about my camera. We were in Miami and it was just starting to rain around 9o'clock pm and I managed to get one shot that wasn't tooo blurry!
Hope you like it!

This one was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Taken right as I was getting off the cruise ship.

This was an accidental tie-dying experiment! I liked the way it came out.

Here are a couple from a walk around campus a coule weeks ago. I like finding shapes in nature, so I was happy to find the leaves in the second picture!

Bicycles

I wanted to capture the interlocking, almost spider web-like pattern of the spokes on these bike wheels. I focused on the foremost wheel to givet he picture depth.
